CLINOZOISITE   Joppa Hill Locale, Amherst, NH
4 mm terminated brown crystal with diopside

ZOISITE   Crystal form
Species:           CLINOZOISITE
Locality:         Joppa Hill Locale, Amherst, NH
Specimen Size: 4 mm terminated brown crystal with diopside
Field Collected: Tom Mortimer
Catalog No.: u1048
Notes: This is a re-photo of this specimen.
The crystal drawing is of a zoisite. It is a good match for this Joppa Hill crystal, including the small triangular face near the termination.
However, a 2022 Raman analyses of Joppa Hill Clinozoisite-Zosite dimorphs by George Adleman favored a clinozoisite identification, see Raman analysis.

ZIRCON in Beryl   Prospect on knob, west of power line, near Hobart Hill, Hebron, NH
1.2 mm zircon crystal embedded on prism face of beryl crystal.
Species:           ZIRCON in Beryl
Locality:         Prospect on knob, west of power line, near Hobart Hill, Hebron, NH
Specimen Size: 1.2 mm zircon crystal embedded on prism face of beryl crystal.
Field Collected: Tom Mortimer
Catalog No.: NC
Notes: Good illustration of fracture cracking around a zircon crystal.
When I collected this with Curt Laplante we thought we were at the Hobart Hill Mine, but we were not. We never did find the Hobart Hill Mine, but this pegmatite prospect had some nice, gemmy, beryl crystals.

VIVIANITE  Palermo Mine, Groton, NH
1.5 mm field of view
Species:           VIVIANITE
Locality:         Palermo Mine, Groton, NH
Specimen Size: 1.5 mm field of view
Field Collected: From tub of rocks gifted by Bob Whitmore.
Catalog No.: u1047
Notes: This blocky habit is unusual for Palermo vivianite. Strunzite, chalcopyrite and sphalerite? are also present on this specimen. Color & luster suggest vivianite, but prism habit with flat termination is un-vivianite-like. The flat termination appears to be perpendicular to the prism. I do not see any mindat photos for vivianite like this
